As we approach the end of the year, we have put together a few trends we are beginning to see in our new home builds for 2022. If you are considering building your new home, message us to start the conversation.

1. Functionality

Convenience is highly sought after in new home builds. It is becoming the norm for us to adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Home designs in 2022 will likely focus on versatility of spaces. Getting the balance right between multi-use, open and private spaces will be a focus in new home builds. Our clients are finding the need for closed off areas and privacy, and the ability to entertain at home comfortably and in style. Homes need to have both private, and open spaces to ensure they are accommodating of any situation.

2. Energy Efficient

Energy efficiency is definitely a growing market. Reducing the cost of living is becoming a greater focus as we close out 2021. More clients are looking for those energy efficient homes with recycled materials. Not only are they environmentally friendly, they are also used for their soft designs, beautiful textures, and their pleasant and welcoming feel.

3. Smart Technology

We have to admit it, smart homes are becoming more and more popular as technology becomes more advanced and more affordable. Many clients are looking for climate control to keep comfortable all year round, appliances that can be controlled remotely, security systems that can be monitored from afar. Anything to make the hustle of bustle of daily life easier and more efficient.

4. Indoor/Outdoor Living

This trend started a few years ago and we are happy to see it gaining more traction in new home builds. There has been a growing desire for versatile spaces that can be converted to outdoor entertainment. Entertaining at home is here to stay. Our clients are looking to be outside more frequently and for longer, throughout the year. Features like sliding glass folding doors, indoor/outdoor benches with folding glass windows, and patios with kitchen features are among the popular requests.

5. Home Offices

We know home office’s were all the rage in 2020/21. As the world shifted to a more flexible working environment over the last few years, home offices are still gaining traction. The need for a more flexible working space in the home is becoming more popular. Ensuring the home office is ergonomically designed, multifunctional, and private have been among the most common features of home offices in our new home build plans for 2022.
